Outdoor wedding music

Outdoor set up for live music at a private party.

Can you have wedding music outdoors? Of course—if it’s not pouring it down, that is! With all this bad weather we’ve been having lately here in the UK, it can be tricky knowing whether it’ll rain or shine on your big day. But the good news is that you don’t have to decide until the day before your wedding, or even the morning is fine—having played at lots of weddings, I can easily adapt to any situation so long as you have an indoor space on standby.
I’ve played live music outdoors in all kinds of settings in the London area and beyond—from garden birthday parties under big marquees to smart pub patios out in the open. You can have the same set up as indoors, with the keyboard, speakers and lighting.  So long as there’s a nearby electrical supply, it’s easy enough—but, if not, why not opt for an acoustic set on the guitar?

Check me out on YouTube!

After hours sweating away in the studio my new video, a cover of Blurred Lines by Robin Thicke is available on my new YouTube channel. Check it out! You’ll notice it’s a little different from my usual acoustic style and that’s because I’ve used a pedal to build up a live backing track using different guitar riffs and vocals (using a Boss RC-20, VE-20 and TC Helicon VoiceLive Play GTX for those of you out there who are musical!) It’s something I’ve been doing at weddings and pub gigs for a while now and is great for those party songs which get people up and dancing- as those who came to my last gig at the Admiral Cunningham pub will know! So, if you like what you hear, keep an eye out for more- or, better still, come and see me me play! Lots of new dates have been added, so if you’re looking for live music in the Berkshire, Hampshire or Surrey area, check out my upcoming shows.

Magic from Michael Vincent

michaelvincent

The other night I was playing at a wedding in central London  when I bumped into TV magician Michael Vincent, who recently appeared on ITV’s  Penn and Teller: Fool Us. He was downstairs performing card tricks for the guests  while I was playing piano in the gallery above.
I asked Michael if he could show me a magic trick and he was happy to  oblige.  He started by rubbing his hands  together and asked me if I could feel the energy coming from him (which I could!). He  then spread out a pack of cards and we each picked one without showing the  other  and popped it back. After giving them a good shuffle he  asked me to ‘feel’ where his card was and take it, while he did the same with  mine. I wasn’t surprised when he picked out my Three of Spades- after all, he’s  the magician- but when I got his, the Ten of Hearts , I have to admit I was astounded!
The evening went very well and  Michael was very complimentary about my performance. Needless to say  I was very impressed by his, too!
