Outdoor wedding music

Outdoor set up for live music at a private party.

Can you have wedding music outdoors? Of course—if it’s not pouring it down, that is! With all this bad weather we’ve been having lately here in the UK, it can be tricky knowing whether it’ll rain or shine on your big day. But the good news is that you don’t have to decide until the day before your wedding, or even the morning is fine—having played at lots of weddings, I can easily adapt to any situation so long as you have an indoor space on standby.
I’ve played live music outdoors in all kinds of settings in the London area and beyond—from garden birthday parties under big marquees to smart pub patios out in the open. You can have the same set up as indoors, with the keyboard, speakers and lighting.  So long as there’s a nearby electrical supply, it’s easy enough—but, if not, why not opt for an acoustic set on the guitar?

A busy weekend of live music

rosecrown2009

Well, what a busy weekend it’s been! A big thanks to everyone who came to my gigs at The Rose and Crown on Friday and the Royal Oak the following night.

It was my first time playing at The Rose and Crown- and my first time sharing the stage with a seven foot Egyptian mummy, which you can see just peeking out from behind the speaker above! It was great to see so many old- and new faces- and have so many people singing along! I’m looking forward to being back in Sandhurst later next month so if you fancy coming along, keep in mind any songs you want me to play as I’m always happy to take requests again.

The Royal Oak pub in Bracknell was another lively night. I started off with a couple of hours’ live music followed by a disco. Thanks to guest performers Murray Smith and Dan Boyles who joined in for a couple of songs. More dates at the Royal Oak will hopefully be following so watch this space…

New open mic nights starting soon

charliemace

Catch me and my friend Mace Matthews in this week’s edition of the Bracknell Standard where there’s an article about our new open mic nights, East Berkshire Open Mics, which are starting up on the first weekend in March. We’re running The Electric Open Mic night on the first friday of the month (2nd March) at The Newtown Pippin, Bracknell and then The Acoustic Open Mic at The Royal Oak, Bracknell on the first Sunday of the month, (4th March) and it’ll be the same each month.

Acts of all types and experience are welcome to come and play and you can either book in a slot or just turn up on the night. If you’d like any more details about the backline we’re providing then get in touch.

Hope you can make it!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to everyone and thanks to all those who came along to my gig at The Royal Oak in Bracknell. It was a great night, and I played a few songs with my sister, Mags, on vocals and our friend, Murray, on the drums. It was our first time playing together in a band, but I think we pulled it off!
I have plans to set up an open night there soon, so watch this space!
