Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to everyone and thanks to all those who came along to my gig at The Royal Oak in Bracknell. It was a great night, and I played a few songs with my sister, Mags, on vocals and our friend, Murray, on the drums. It was our first time playing together in a band, but I think we pulled it off!
I have plans to set up an open night there soon, so watch this space!

New Dates for 2012

We’ve been busy booking more dates for Charlie throughout 2012 including for his residency at Pennyhill Park.  You can catch Charlie performing live at least twice a month there with dates confirmed up to August and beyond and dates for other venues are being booked all the time so keep checking back.

Charlie has also been asked to perform at The Blue Lion in Bracknell for their Christmas Party on Friday 23rd December so if you’re looking for somewhere to go then there’ll be no better place to join the party!

The Scattered Few Album is finished (perhaps…)

I’ve been recording an album for a band called Scattered Few and it’s just about ready for the final stage in the process; printing the cds!
It’s been great working with them and, though I’m sure we’re all happy the project’s come to an end, I’m really glad to have been a part of it.  I’ve also had the opportunity to record some keyboard parts on two of their tracks which has allowed me to move beyond the bounds of just piano arrangements.
If you like listening to folky/acoustic music then it’d definitely be worth checking these guys out, they’re lovely folkers!
Find them on the links page or follow this link to their website for further information about the album release date and their upcoming performances.

Charlie performs support slot for Boot Led Zeppelin

Last Friday, Charlie performed a support slot for  international tribute sensation Boot Led Zeppelin at the Bracknell’s Wilde  Theatre.
The show was a huge success  with a packed audience of 300 where Charlie received a fantastic reception.
He performed a set of four songs on the guitar, with backing  vocals and tambourine from his sister Amanda Luffrum. His set list included a  new cover of Andrew Gold’s Never Let Her Slip  Away and Charlie’s own take of Van Morrison’s hugely popular Brown Eyed Girl (check it out on the  home page) plus two originals, Back at  the Start and In The Sunshine. Clips  of the event will appear on the videos page soon.
Boot Led Zeppelin, who Charlie has been managing since spring, have achieved  international acclaim as Britain’s number one tribute act to legendary rockers,  Led Zeppelin.

If you’re interested in seeing them live, you can find their  touring dates on our links page. Hope to see you there!

Magic from Michael Vincent

The other night I was playing at a wedding in central London  when I bumped into TV magician Michael Vincent, who recently appeared on ITV’s  Penn and Teller: Fool Us. He was downstairs performing card tricks for the guests  while I was playing piano in the gallery above.
I asked Michael if he could show me a magic trick and he was happy to  oblige.  He started by rubbing his hands  together and asked me if I could feel the energy coming from him (which I could!). He  then spread out a pack of cards and we each picked one without showing the  other  and popped it back. After giving them a good shuffle he  asked me to ‘feel’ where his card was and take it, while he did the same with  mine. I wasn’t surprised when he picked out my Three of Spades- after all, he’s  the magician- but when I got his, the Ten of Hearts , I have to admit I was astounded!
The evening went very well and  Michael was very complimentary about my performance. Needless to say  I was very impressed by his, too!
