Happy New Year! 2016 is already getting off to a busy start with a fresh new look for my website.
Over the coming weeks, we’ll be adding lots of information about the various wedding packages I offer to help you plan the entertainment for your dream day. That can be everything from solo piano work as you walk down the aisle, to entertainment throughout the entire day including live sung performances on the guitar and/or piano followed by DJing with all top quality lighting and sound equipment you’d expect.
I’ll also be adding lots of videos, pictures and mp3s…in a nutshell, lots more of everything!
In the meantime, there might be a few bits and pieces not working as we get underway (not too many I hope!).
But, as always, I’m only a phone call or email away should you like to get in touch with me about anything. Hope you hear from you soon!
Music is often a huge part of any wedding, but one bride and groom I worked with recently decided to take it to a whole new level with a festival-style wedding.
The couple, James and Lyndsey, had hired out The New Leathern Bottle in Jealotts Hill, Berkshire, which has a medium-sized garden out the front to comfortably accommodate their 300 guests.
The idea was that we’d have a stage with several acts playing throughout the day, finishing with a wedding disco in the evening.
First, I had the task of lining up enough acts to keep live wedding music running throughout the afternoon and into the evening.
This involved one solo musician, plus three bands (including mine, Charlie and the Notes) and, of course, a sound technician.
I would then switch roles, becoming the wedding DJ from about 11pm.
The next job was to construct a 6x3metre stage for the musicians, plus a dance floor, full lighting and a marquee to keep everything protected from any rain. I took care of all of these (with a few extra hands, of course!) and, as you can see from the photos, the finished result looked fantastic!
The couple also opted to have a games area for the kids, plus a beer tent, sweetie stall and barbeque. They also decided on a Victorian Steampunk theme for their wedding which looked great!
The whole day was brilliant and the feedback from the guests was that it was one of the best—and most memorable– weddings they’d ever been to.
I’m delighted to say I’ve been asked to play at the Reading Beer & Cider Festival this year. I’ll be playing at 12:15pm for 45 minutes so will catch people before they’re three sheets to the wind, and it will also leave me plenty of time to, ahem, sample 2 or 3 of the tipples on offer, thimblefuls only of course! It’s a ticket event which can purchased in advance from www.readingbeerfestival.org.uk or on the door and with many choices of beer, cider and wine with live music throughout the weekend I may even be going back on the Sunday… .
Happy Valentine’s Day! And with this is mind, my new album Whilst You Slept… is now available, containing 13 tracks of my favourite love songs. I recorded this CD over the past few weeks, with the help of Mick Johnson who played guitar on the first track, ‘You Are So Beautiful’.
If you’d like a copy, they will be available to buy at my gigs (see the shows page for dates and venues) or through the store on my website. Digital downloads will also be available very shortly.
I cant believe how long it’s been since my last update and I’m now not sure where to start!
The year so far has been amazing, I’ve recieved my new guitar from Mick at Mick Johnson Guitars and absolutely love it, so much so the next in the series has been designed and will shortly enter the construction phase. If you’d like a new guitar, work done on an exisiting one or on any other instrument, electric or acoustic, or electrical repairs to amps, pedals, etc. get in touch with him as he’s able to do it all and got me out of trouble a few times with broken equipment.
I’ve had a photoshoot done with Chris at Chris Kemp Photography in Newbury and he’s produced some fantastic shots! We’re already using them in cards and posters and I’ll be puting them into my gallery soon so please check them out here. I’m so grateful to him and, being such a nice guy as well, would highly recommend him for your wedding, party, show, shoot; if you ever need a pro photographer look no further!
I’ve also got quite a few shows booked over the next few months so if you’d like to come and see me perform sometime have a look at my shows page .
now, back to my guitar.. .
Well what a weekend I’ve had; it was extraordinary to say the least when the England Rugby Team invited me to come and watch their winning match against Wales on Saturday- and I got to play a few celebratory songs for them in the changing rooms afterwards! Then it was back to Pennyhill Park Hotel to carry on the celebrations. We had a great evening playing and I even had a few special celebrity guests get up and sing some of their favourite songs with me. Of these things dreams are made.. .
Talking of favourites, here’s a photo of me (right) taken on the day with the Triple Crown Trophy.
